Whisky Get Fancy: Kona Unit MTB

February 21, 2019

What if your bike could give you that new bike feeling again?

Whisky Parts Co. is inviting riders to #GetFancy by upgrading with new Whisky components. We’ll be featuring extraordinary bikes made by people like you and sharing the stories behind the builds. Tag @WhiskyPartsCo on Instagram with #GetFancy and show us how you made the bike you have into the bike you’ve always wanted.

This week we’re kicking things off by looking at a Kona Unit from Nikolas Borisuk (@ArcandPressure). He took this simple steel mountain bike and turned it into a lightweight, single speed beauty.

Here is how Nik described his build:

“This Kona Unit was a surprise gift from my wife and I wanted to do some paint work on it. The paint feel was inspired by a 1967 Ford GT-40 that was rebranded (as) a Mercury. I was aiming for something retro and classic and I’m overall pretty pleased! Another goal was lightening up the bike a little bit, so that meant using a carbon fork. Whisky was on my radar as I have a lot of friends who run Whisky bars and really love them. So the No.9 MTN Fork made it on the short list of options. Choosing it over some of the comparable forks ended up being a decision I have been super happy about. It’s a super well-made product and the folks at Whisky have been amazing to work with! It has the perfect balance of durability, weight, and aesthetic quality. This bike is a hoot to ride and I believe I’ll have many miles of good times on it!”

(Thanks for sharing Nik!)
