Dogwood Cycleworx "Copper Gravel"
Next up in our Whisky Select series is the picture-perfect “Copper Gravel” from custom frame maker Dogwood Cycleworx. Belonging to Josh Hatchell at Bell Lap Cycleworks in Raleigh, NC, the frame is built from Columbus steel tubing and tailored for gravel rides with the occasional singletrack session thrown in.
“There’s an art in fabrication and paint,” says Josh, “and finding a builder that can execute both seamlessly is rare.” No doubt you’ll notice the paint here. With traces of copper, cream, deep blue, and teal, a multi-colored confetti-style splatter sets the whole thing off.
The attention to detail doesn’t stop there. Featuring Paragon hooded thru-axle dropouts, bi-laminate joints on the seat tube, and a full suite of seriously thoughtful components — check out the copper rivets on the Brooks C15 saddle — Josh’s ride is a true expression of his passions and preferences.
“The bike is a true gem,” Josh adds. “David Johnson [Dogwood Cycleworx owner] is a true artist from fabrication to paint.”
