Retrotec All-Road Double

Much like his famous curved-tube Retrotec bikes, Curtis Inglis is easy to spot in a crowd. Standing at 6’4”, he is literally head and shoulders above most cyclists, so it makes sense that his personal bike would stand out in a similar fashion. Among the bikes he brought this year to the North American Handmade Bicycle Show (NAHBS), Curtis included his own super-sized All-Road Double, and it certainly casts a long shadow.

The smooth lines on this bike evoke the feeling of an old beach cruiser, but this is a thoroughly modern all-road machine. The sweeping top bar curves perfectly into the seat stays, creating an elegant shape that tucks the 700c rear wheel in tightly beneath the rider. This slope also provides additional stability for the long head tube and our No.9 CX fork, while providing ample clearance for the Thomson dropper seat post. Combined with a second top-tube mid-frame holding the custom-made Outer Shell half-bag, and you’ve got a sturdy mount that is as functional as it is beautiful. Inglis’s curvaceous aesthetic blends old with new while a full suite of Whisky carbon parts lighten the load. This creates a deceptive optical illusion that hides its size and versatility behind a veil of classic sensibilities.
